– Harder ! Faster !

In a small backyard there was a boy. He held two short swords while making various swings and stances. Next to him stood a very tall and aged man with bushy facial hair; he held a wooden cane while sitting down, his back was crooked and his head was down but the boy knew better : he knew this old man could beat him in a heart beat.

– Ahri, take a step back and raise your elbow; you can’t just hit like that !

– Yes father !

Ahri said and corrected his stance.

The old man nodded to himself and kept watching the boy as he continued hitting the scarecrow… “Good moves and he listens well; he is going to catch up to me soon, isn’t he ?” thought the old man as he looked at the sky.

It had been 54 years since he fled from his home : he was once the son of a king but because of unfortunate events, his country was defeated by the queendom he was in now. So he had no other choice but to flee if he didn’t want to be sold into slavery; he was after all a really young and handsome boy at that time which was really rare and very sought after.

He looked at his son again, his face was very feminine but still bore the rough traces of manliness born from the training he received since he was 6 years old. The old man sighed and continued to watch his son fondly, happy that he was improving this fast and sad about his future… After all, he was a handsome boy too.

This little backyard was the territory of the Allistar house. This house was known for its combat capabilities, each generation of females were warriors, knights and musketeers. Those who came from this family could be only described as strong and mighty; the 12 heads of this house stood high in the military of the current queendom and were renowned warriors.

The queendom was called Castopia and was the only human country there was : through blood and steel, the queendom of Castopia was able to defeat its other neighbors and take its land, thus becoming one queendom. It was peaceful in this country… Well, mostly.

With thumping sound, the door to the backyard opened and a woman with heavy armor came out. She wasn’t armed in anyway but her stature alone was intimidating because she stood 6.8 feet tall; her every step made the metal armor sound and she soon stopped next to the old man, also known as her husband. She took off her helmed and what was shown was a beautiful red haired woman. She had small scars here and there and a big scar across her face but it did nothing to make her ugly; it added to her charm for some reason.

Her gaze fell onto her son as he was training : it held indifference. As she talked to her husband, her tone was edgy but not scary; no, she was trying to be as harmless as possible while in her husband’s presents. After all, she wasn’t the only wife he had.

– You know very well that we will soon have to trade him with another house for a male ?

The man didn’t answer and just grunted… At that, the woman didn’t say anything and just watched her son, a bit astounded at how skillfully he was using those duel shorts words : he was like a butterfly that stung like a bee; he was truly gifted with talent but unfortunately… He was a man.

The world was very harsh, especially for men because they were very scarce. It was estimated that the women overwhelmed the men by a 1:10 ratio which made the competition for men oh so much fiercer. In the end, they were all looked at as very expensive commodity, mainly as sex slaves or for reproduction which was what they were breeded for. Even an ugly man was sold for over 10 million gold pieces; young ones were sold for even more, reaching 50 millions, and handsome ones were especially rare because they were something not many could lay their eyes on, reaching 20 billion gold pieces.

 

No one really knew why men were so scarce, not even the most skilled mages could figure out this mystery but men still had the right free since the queen issued a law that all citizen were equal, be it men or women… Well, especially men, but that law didn’t stop slavers from doing their work. Instead, it seemed to encourage them; even today, this woman had to slay a couple slavers because they violated the law…
