The fight was coming to a close.
Majority of the wolves were killed seeing that their number advantage was quickly dwindling the wolves were thinking about retreat as they couldn’t see any hope for this situation.
These invaders were simply too powerful. With one of them being an invisible ghost killing them from the shadows while the other shooting arrows at them with powerful force and accuracy. The wolves couldn’t even hurt the 2 big warriors and even when they changed targets they would instantly face 2 more powerful fighters who were quick and lethal!
Furthermore, suddenly another creature came into the mix a big hawk that was shredding them with its beak!
The alpha wolf also saw that their forces were likely to lose. Not wanting to admit it defeat. It wanted to do something to turn the tables for them.
Looking at these invaders the alpha wolf saw 2 individuals that weren’t fighting but just standing there.
Thinking that they were the weakest it decided to dispatch them first by itself to increase the morale of its own troops.
Out of the 2 the alpha wolf immediately chose the shorter one since it equated size with power.
How the alpha wolf would pass through the big warriors and the 2 quick fighters was an issue but the alpha wolf wasn’t worried as it had its ways.
Blending into the shadows the figure of the alpha wolf immediately disappeared as if it was absorbed into the darkness.
Avian’s party saw this. Avian in particularly slightly expected this.
To give context these wolves weren’t just wolves. They were a species called Dark Wolves who gained magical abilities as they ranked up.
Mostly it was increased speed with dark element imbued attacks like most of the Rank 1 wolves present. But the alpha wolf clearly had more in its sleeve which is why it was the alpha.
-That wolf just went into the shadows. Don’t stand too close to dark areas try to stay close to each other.
The orders were again received. With Avian thinking about where the alpha wolf could appear the fighting continued as the party aimed at killing all the wolves whose morale was quickly disappearing.
Never did Avian imagine that the wolf would actually aim for him since he was in the middle of the party heavily protected.
Avian tried to spot it with his [Blood Sense]. But strangely something was blocking him as darkness seemed to be able to hide the wolf’s body something that Avian encountered the first time as he had never seen anyone do something like this before.
Dahlia was different though as she could still clearly see the alpha wolf’s soul. It was moving at high speed through the darkness that hid its body. Wanting to warn the others before it attacked. Dahlia was ready but never did she expect the wolf to jump on the trees before using it as a jumping board aiming directly at them or more specifically Avian who still could not spot the damn wolf.
Dahlia was the only one who knew and seeing that there was no time to say anything as the Wolf had already jumped. She steeled her mind before gripping her staff hard.
Her muscles tensed up from her arms to her long legs and thick veins were growing over her body while her mind was both extremely focused and angered at the same time as she couldn’t believe this lowly wolf would try to aim at her master.
Death would be its only end. No, from the beginning it was nothing more than meat on the chopping block!
-Dahlia? What’s wrong?
Avian asked noticing that Dahlia had gotten stiff for some reason. But he got no reply as Dahlia seemed to be thinking about something else. His concern though was immediately interrupted when he finally felt something odd as his senses detected something coming at him.
Avian’s attributes were very high all because of his [Blood Mimicry] which he completely filled out its slots gaining ¼ of the attributes for all his forms which in total he had 5 of.
He used to have only 4 slots. But with the advancement of his [Monster Tamer] blessing through taming the baby Roc as soon as it hatched Avian immediately advanced to Rank 1 [Monster Tamer].
These slots weren’t just filled with any creature’s blood either as he chose creatures with high rank that had powerful bodily attributes and had some unique features he liked.
It’s because of Avian’s high attributes that he gained certain superhuman traits one of them being his high perception as he was aware of everything that was going on in a certain radius without needing to actually see it himself.
He could also unconsciously judge the threat level of a creature just by looking at them. This though only worked on creatures weaker then himself. And in this situation the peak Rank 1 Dark Wolf posed no threat to Avian even with its unique ability to hide itself.
Avian felt he could slap the wolf and beat it to death with a single hit.
The others were not aware of this though other than Gabriella who only knew very little about Avian’s secret which was still close to nothing. It’s because of this that they still thought Avian was just a Rank 1 [Monster Tamer] that had a very well trained body and decent combat skills like Bethany who also didn’t have a combat-oriented blessing but was still good at fighting since she trained a lot.
This still didn’t completely dissuade them from thinking that Avian wasn’t very powerful physically. Dahlia especially thought so and when she became more aware of blessings and how they affected a person’s life. She became even more motivated to stay near Avian and protect him causing her to work harder.
She still remembered how Avian would always carry her literally whenever they went somewhere in the forest because she was slow. Dahlia didn’t train and put herself through painful torment in her training just so she could continue to be carried. She wanted to become someone who could carry Avian her determination was unbreakable in that regard.
-Die!
Dahlia shouted. Not casting a spell at the pouncing Dark Wolf. But instead surprisingly jumping herself. Her long powerful legs causing a small pit to form from where she jumped as the force she used to jump was extremely powerful to the point the ground was not stable enough to absorb all the force.
Dahlia jumped over 8 meters at an instant as well as it only took 0.8 seconds for her to make that far of a jump.
Dahlia’s training and new grown body were obviously all responsible for this jumping power. But it also mostly had to do with Dahlia’s ancestry as she was just like Soraya a Demi-human meaning half-beastman.
Her blood partial came from the rabbitmen who all possessed keen senses, long legs, high speed and agility and extremely powerful jumping ability.
A month ago Dahlia had shown none of these traits that came from her ancestry as she was even weaker than an ordinary human child. A month later with her body fully grown and completely changed Dahlia gained all of these traits becoming the fastest in the group as she started running laps around everyone even though she was a magic user.
Race truly had an immense impact on your abilities. Cornelia and Deborah who should have been the fastest in the party immediately became second and third as soon as Dahlia awakened her latent racial abilities.
Ogra too was the most physically able with Gabriella barely able to match her even though she trained almost all her life while Soraya didn’t lag too far behind Dahlia as she too benefited a ton from her beastman blood.
As for Bethany her half-elven blood obviously did wonders to her natural beauty. While also gifting her with an elven gracefulness that showed in her movements which made her more flexible. Avian also knew that elves were very attuned to magic naturally making them less susceptible to it.
Watching Dahlia jumping so high and about to intercept the Dark Wolf midair made Avian momentarily worried as he started to think that something bad could happen. But it didn’t as Dahlia performed a perfect overhead bashing attack with her black staff. Using it like a common blunt weapon. The black staff was actually very effective as it performed extremely well as a blunt weapon with Dahlia hitting the peak Rank 1 Dark Wolf square on the head on top of its skull before it could even react.
And even if it could react being mid-air didn’t allow it to dodge or change direction. Dahlia took the prime opportunity to counter attack as the Dark Wolf could only take the hit square.
But really, how much physical damage could Dahlia who was a magic user really deal?
The answer was quite a lot as Dahlia was a Demi-human who benefited quite a bit on the physical side of things while also having trained extensively for more strength.
As soon as the staff hit the peak Rank 1 Dark Wolf felt its consciousness go black for a second before it spewed tons of blood from its mouth and felt its skull shattering into pieces.
This was not far from reality as its skull really did break. The immense force it suffered not exactly stopping either as the Dark Wolf was immediately launched to the ground when it was hit causing a loud and grotesque sound when it hit the ground with more blood coming out its mouth.
Dahlia too landed back on the ground on her feet without any issues from such height with everyone noticing what happened. The wolves immediately stopped fighting when they saw it was their leader who was sprawled on the ground heavily injured and close to death.
Everyone else on Avian’s party could only smile wryly as they saw how brutally Dahlia attacked the Dark Wolf mid-air. No one would believe them if they told others that Dahlia was actually a magic user after seeing something like this. But they were not surprised too much as Dahlia had already shown her capabilities a lot in their training.
As for the peak Rank 1 Dark Wolf who was the alpha of this pack. It soon died from trauma and blood loss as it had no more strength to do anything but slowly bleed out and die.
The other Dark Wolves who had been following their leader immediately turned tail when they saw him die as well.
This battle unexpectedly ended just like this. Dahlia didn’t say anything even though she was the main contributed and simply smiled proudly before returning back to Avian and trying to act cute hoping for compliments and words of praise from Avian.
Avian could only submit while feeling conflicted inside. Everyone else smiled somewhat understanding what Avian was feeling as even he couldn’t completely keep his mask when facing Dahlia who just did something ridiculous.
They really weren’t the most powerful party in Alimdal for nothing.
But maybe it also had to do with the fact that all of them were Rank 1.
