Slave Company Chapter 91 Changing Thought

Previously Avian had failed to spot this old man. But now things were completely different as Avian was Rank 2. His skill with the use of his Abilities hadn’t changed too much since last time since it wasn’t even that long ago. But the raw improvement of Rank was all it took for Avian to see through this old man and discover.

-(Rank 2. Surprisingly this town has a lot more powerful people hidden in plain sight)

-Is something the matter? I am really tired and I want to go home first if you don’t mind?

Avian said. Heldvig looked troubled at that as he sympathized with Avian thinking he likely didn’t have a good time for the past 3 days stuck in the forest.

But Heldvig had his reasons to not be able to budge as he answered.

-I am sorry. But the guild master sent me as soon as news came that you came back. He wants to talk to you personally. Honestly the guild master would have gone himself to talk you. But there is a problem as the last battle against the monster horde the Rank 3 monster in particular had cost the guild master quite a lot. He is currently bedridden and can’t get out which is why I beg of you to meet him please.

Avian’s brows momentarily raised after hearing this. He wasn’t sure what to do really. And Honestly he wasn’t completely comfortable with talking to a person who was Rank 3 even if he was allegedly injured and bedridden.

But something about the old man’s demeanor told him it was important. Avian also had a feeling that maybe he could get something out of this which is why he pushed Dahlia to the side towards Gabriella.

Dahlia immediately getting surprised as she didn’t expect to be passed around like this by Avian nonetheless.

She really didn’t want this. But a soft pat from Avian and his next words stopped her from doing anything.

-I think you already got used to standing on your own momentarily. I saw you throw that fire from your hands and how you seemed to have improved on your own. I am not saying I be gone. I am just going away for a bit you understand me right?

-…master…you…meanie…

She said. Something Avian didn’t expect to hear. But also an acknowledgement as Dahlia did understand staying with Gabriella who took her in instead.

-The rest of the party didn’t quite understand. But it became clear that they wouldn’t be going back home just yet.

The adventurer’s guild was going to be their first destination.

Heading towards that place. They met quite a lot of adventurers on the way who greeted Avian enthusiastically showing their respect as they knew it was all because of Avian the summoning was stopped and the town was saved. A lot of them also keenly observed the fact that Avian did it using his [Monster Tamer] abilities summoning the flock of Wind Swallows to push the golden cup from the head priest’s hands.

Stories of Avian’s accomplishments had already traveled plus his incredibly usefulness on the quest itself. It was at first met with skepticism by most people, but when it was told by the experienced adventurers and affirmed by them. It changed everyone’s perspective of this blessing most people thought as useless and bad since it birthed so many swindlers, thieves, cheats and conmen.

A lot of adventurers in the town even started considering or looking for [Monster Tamers] to add to their party so they could groom that individual and gain the access to the amazing scouting ability [Share Sense] provided.

It created a small boon of opportunity for the [Monster Tamers] in Alimdal which were not a lot.

Most people though were still immensely skeptical still since they didn’t see it and merely heard of it.

That also changed when Avian came to the guild getting recognized by the adventurers followed by his party members who parked their carriage with the Earth Lizard nearby.

Plus, the Forest Elk who tagged along its Majestic figure reflecting in the eyes of everyone as it was a lot bigger than most horses.

Avian had decided to keep it after all as it was really fast and had tons of stamina something he liked about it quite a bit.

The people on the other hand were shocked when they saw the Forest Elk even though it was an unranked creature people still recognized it as it was actually a unique creature.

-Hey is that a Silver Elk?

-No doubt about it, it is!

-You’re kidding right aren’t those infamous for being one of the fastest runners and almost impossible to catch. What is it doing here? Did someone catch it?

-It doesn’t have a leash and it seems to be following that party over there!

-Are you guys blind or something. Don’t you recognize the person who is walking in the middle? It’s the [Monster Tamer] Lukas! The Silver Elk is likely a monster he tamed on the way back which is why it is following the party!

-Wait! Didn’t you say that Lukas the [Monster Tamer] could only tame small birds? Ow!

-(Smack) You dolt! I never said that and research a bit before you open your stupid mouth! [Monster Tamers] aren’t like most taming blessings that are restricted to certain monsters or animals. [Monster Tamers] can tame all creatures as long as they meet the necessary requirement.

-(rubs stinging head injury) Then why would he tame only small birds if he could tame creatures like that! If all [Monster Tamers] could really do this and all tame Silver Elks wouldn’t they be at least a lot more useful like being messengers or coachmen?! In fact, if I knew [Monster Tamers] could do something like this our party would have long since had one in our party and gotten ourselves a free mount to carry our equipment or gained an additional fighter to make fights easier!

-That…I don’t know…but clearly Lukas isn’t any [Monster Tamer]. Did you ever hear about any [Monster Tamer] reaching Rank 1? Maybe we need to change our perspective a little bit.

Similar conversations such as this came about as everyone stared at the Silver Elk bot amazed and awed as Silver Elks were prized animals that possessed one of the most delicious meat while their antlers could be used for effective medicine and their silver fur sold for a very high amount.

The rest of their body equally had tons of uses. But almost no one could catch these Elks as they were very fast, had lots of stamina, were supernaturally sensitive to the presence of others from a distance and very smart as well. The combination of all these things making them almost impossible to catch.

It didn’t help that they were also one of the few creatures that could reach Rank 1 and even Rank 2 each subsequent rank making them faster and improving all other aspects of their base abilities which made them even more impossible to catch.

These creatures were also rumored to be able to reach Rank 3 turning into magical creatures that could use magic. But no one ever saw proof of that.

Showcasing what Avian could do with his ability to tame a Silver Elk the people who were still skeptical started to change their opinion very quickly even thinking about maybe seeking out a [Monster Tamer] on their own.

Unfortunately, the ones who already had this foresight seeing Avian in action personally already picked those opportunities dry. It only caused even more discussion as people had now a very different more interesting topic to talk about.

Were [Monster Tamers] actually useful?

Either way. Avian did not bother with these people and followed the old man Heldvig. They were already inside the guild but everyone was there.

Ogra, Deborah and Cornelia decided to wait outside while Gabriella, Dahlia, Bethany and Soraya came inside.

Only Avian would see the guild master though in a private room where he was resting inside the guild.

Bethany and Soraya originally wanted to wait with Cornelia and the other two.

But Gabriella asked them to come with her as there was something she wanted to ask them.

This was something Avian had told her to do which was also ran by everyone else in the party who didn’t mind, though Avian didn’t need their input either way.

-Alright, I’ll be back in a few minutes if not longer. Gabriella, you understand.

-Yes.

Gabriella affirmed. Getting quite a confused reaction from Bethany and Soraya as they didn’t know what this was about. Avian soon disappeared behind the reception counter with Heldvig.

Leaving only 4 people which were Gabriella, Dahlia, Bethany and Soraya.

Gabriella turned towards Bethany and Soraya though. Seeing their still confused expressions. She just smiled before asking.

-This was something we wanted to ask you once we were back home and could celebrate properly. But since this happened we figured we do it now.

Bethany and Soraya started to get even more confused, but Gabriella still continued.

-Do you two want to join our party?

This finally snapped them out of the confusion as they instead were slightly shocked. Neither of them said anything for the first few seconds. But they looked at each other and seeing the look in the other’s eyes they turned back to Gabriella before smiling brightly and replying.

-Yes, please ! x2
