Slave Company Chapter 82 Food Problem

Easily abiding by Avian’s wishes, The Kobold Chieftain gracefully stood up before leaving the tent with Avian following behind him.

When Avian came out of the tent he saw how it was still early in the morning, knowing that he had slept for 2 days and that the human adventurers had all escaped, Avian was sure they all returned back to Alimdal.

The connection he felt between Gabriella and the Earth Lizard proved that they were fine which made Avian feel glad as it meant the monster horde had either been successfully eliminated or they had fled and were safe for now.

Either way Avian didn’t worry about his teammates for the moment, Dahlia did come to his mind as he expected her to be in a panic without him, but he figured it was better this way in a sense since it would allow her to get used to being without him for a change.

The presence of her [Slave Mark] would always inform her that Avian was still alive which was a good assurance if nothing else.

Avian instead, felt a bit nervous when he got out of the tent.

Upon getting out, the time of day wasn’t the only thing he noticed.

Numerous kobolds going to and from doing their jobs and generally contributing to the tribe at the best of their capability could be seen being extremely industrious.

This was a very good trait of Kobolds as they were all very hard workers compared to goblins who were the epitome of lust, greed and sloth.

This was why a small tribe of kobolds were seen as a more serious threat then a middle sized tribe of goblins.

Kobolds were also one of the few races that were considered masters in certain crafts.

Which was understandable considering how hard they worked, but this was not the current topic as Avian following behind the Kobold Chieftain started to attract immense amount of attention from Kobolds he passed.

They immediately stopped worked when they saw Avian, choosing to go down their knees and bow before Avian reverently and with fanaticism in their eyes, it was extremely clear how the Kobolds viewed Avian as not just the Kobold Chieftain displayed that sort of behavior.

If Avian didn’t completely trust it before, then he believed it now as every Kobold showed the same behavior without exception.

Being worshiped as a true god made Avian momentarily feel strange, he threw away that feeling as he didn’t like it, something about it made him feel complacent, and complacency led to mistakes and mistakes could cost him his life, Avian already had a very recent brush with death 2 days ago, he never wanted to repeat that ever again which is why he kept reminding himself to not fall for it.

Turning to the Kobold Chieftain who was leading the way, Avian ignored the worshipping figures and gazes of the Kobolds as he asked.

-What do I call you? Do you have a name?

The language he was using was draconic, but not like the barking and yipping of these kobolds instead it was more deep, primordial and alien that sounded like a mix between a roar and the natural sound of crackling thunder, winding howls and other things Avian could not immediately describe.

Avian’s understanding of this language was so shockingly high that it seemed like he always knew of It since he was born.

The question of how this was possible and how he could understand the Kobold Chieftain while he could understand him swam inside his mind considering the Kobold chieftain spoke a different version of Draconic when he spoke the main version of it.

Of course Avian could not comprehend it, the only thing he knew for certain was that all of this stemmed from his transformation that was caused by the blood of the Black Dragon whelp.

The fact that he could learn an entire language from absorbing blood was a ridiculous thought, but Avian didn’t know everything there was to this world even if it sometimes seemed like it.

He knew that special kinds of blood existed, Dragon blood for one was special as it bestowed a creature Dragons Physique upon bathing in it, but Avian had never heard about learning the entire Draconic language through bathing in it, which could only mean one thing as Avian reasoned.

Something about the way Avian utilized the Dragon blood as a [Hemomancer] when he ranked up was very likely the cause.

The sea of blood that Avian absorbed made him think that the blood from Black Dragon whelp was likely not enough and to get more of it Avian very likely unconsciously made more of it through [Blood Conversion] which required tons of blood to convert into Rank 3 Black Dragon whelp blood.

From the advancement, Avian was now a Rank 2 [Hemomancer] which not only meant a fat boost to his base attributes, but also new abilities that he hadn’t checked out yet.

Honestly Avian wanted to check the abilities as he was curious of what he got that could maybe answer everything.

But he didn’t as he was still trying to process everything else and wanted to cool down before doing it, he understood that everything needed to have an order if he wanted to get anywhere.

Seeing the construction of the palace itself was just an excuse Avian thought up to get out of the tent with the Kobold Chieftain.

The Kobold Chieftain hearing Avian’s question looked a bit surprised, but then slightly flattered as he answered.

-My lord, my name is Kett, but you can bestow whatever name you want onto me and our tribesman!

-No thank you, Kett it is, where is this pala…

Before Avian even had time to finish speaking, the Kobold Chieftain and him immediately stopped as they arrived in an extremely wide clearing.

Even more Kobolds were in this space as they worked non-stop hauling, tools, materials and other things for construction.

An extremely big and solid base had been built as the silhouette of a stone palace with intricate engravings could clearly be seen hammered in by the Kobolds who were skilled in this type of work.

The size of this to be palace was so big even 4 to 5 rocs stacked on top of each other could have fit in easily inside, Avian had to raise his head to even see the entire palace which is how big it was.

And imagine they were only 60% done and had already built this in 2 days.

Avian was beyond amazed, as he never seen efficiency, unity or craftsmanship such as this, but looking at the workers Avian clearly saw how exhausted every single one of them was.

If there was an equivalent of dark circles under the eyes for Kobolds, then they clearly had it as they all looked exhausted, sleep deprived, hungry and thirsty.

But still none of them complained or stopped working for even a second, only focused on building this palace that Avian could not possibly live inside in all alone.

The palace was at least 100 meters wide and maybe 30 to 40 meters high.

Avian had not seen the side or behind of the palace construction but he could instantly tell it was enormous as well.

The Kobold Chieftains next words made Avian feel even more appalled as he heard them.

-This palace will be done in another 2 or 3 days, so please my lord I hope you can wait! This too will only be a temporary home as we are planning or making an even more grandiose palace for you my lord!

-A…an even bigger palace…

All of a sudden, Avian started to understand these kobolds less and less, in fact he started to feel that these kobolds were strangely pitiful the more he watched them, even though they looked happy working themselves to death.

It made Avian want to sigh as it was the Dragons who made a pitiful race like them, still that did not mean he wanted to do anything for them, he actually wanted to return back to town, but he found it difficult to do that with these Kobolds who worshipped him as a god.

Most importantly there was something else that Avian wanted as he stood there watching the Kobolds.

He was hungry and thirsty.

Patting his stomach, he turned to Kett the Kobold Chieftain before speaking.

-Call off all the kobolds that are working on that palace, let those who are too exhausted rest while the ones who can still work go and have their dinner.

Only saying that much, Avian turned around before intending on heading back to his tent and start checking his new abilities he got from his rank up, he didn’t really care what the kobolds would do, but he had enough pity for them to at least let them rest and eat, calling off the palace construction when they were already at this point sounded like it would only backfire which is why he didn’t do it.

But as he was leaving, Kett looked a bit troubled by Avian’s orders as he looked at the Kobolds who were working with all they god and then back at Avian incredibly conflicted before finally speaking out.

-M..my Lord! It’s not that I want to go against your benevolent orders, but there is a problem…

-What?

Avian asked, momentarily stopping, Kett flinched as he thought that maybe his god was annoyed at him, Avian could tell what he was thinking easily as he continued.

-Tell me what’s the problem? You aren’t about to tell me that you don’t have food or something right? Doesn’t your tribe regularly go out hunting and forage? It can’t be that you didn’t do those things for the past 2 days and just started building this…

-…

Seeing the blank look on Kett’s face and his silent demeanor, Avian also stopped talking when he realized he was completely spot on with his half-hearted guess.

Right like that has ever stopped you before, same reason you are in this situation really.

P.S: With the prologue and him being a monster tamer i thought it would be a normie with a lot of practice and skills building an empire nice and slow instead its another snowflake power fantasy. As in he is strong due to something unique and one of a kind about him, all kind of stuff happen without much reason and out of nowhere and there is always treasure or opportunities tripping him over that he need to wear a helmet nonstop. Funny cuz heroes from all sorts of fictions rarely if ever wear helmets.
